Dr. John Pettit is a dedicated physician who is committed to providing the best and most comprehensive care for his patients. The priority of his practice has always been personalized care: treating each patient with kindness, compassion, and patience. He takes great care to ensure that each patient understands and is comfortable with the path of his/her treatment. Dr. Pettit and his staff are known for courtesy, timeliness, and efficiency.
Dr. Pettit is Board Certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the American Urological Association, the Northwest Urological Society, and the Washington State Urological Society. He has practiced in Bellingham for over 20 years and has served on both the Credentials Committee and the Committee of Surgical Privileges. He is a member of the Surgery Department at St. Joseph Hospital and also served for a period as Chief of Surgery. As a founding partner of Cascade Urology Lithotripsy Company, Dr. Pettit was instrumental in bringing to the Northwest successful, advanced urology treatments, including lithotripsy, a now-common and effective way to dissolve kidney stones.
Dr. Pettit is a graduate of Columbia University in New York, where he earned a degree in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering. He went on to study medicine at St. George’s University then completed his urology residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Pettit has always had a love of the outdoors. He is married and the father of three sons. Together they enjoy fishing, camping, bee-keeping, skiing, and wood-working.
